The following page describes actions taken during 2021 regarding multilateral treaties.

On November 19, 2021, the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the OAS informed the depository on the designation of the central authority with contact information regarding the following inter-American instruments deposited with the General Secretariat of the OAS:

• Inter-American Convention on International Commercial Arbitration;
• Inter-American Convention on International Traffic in Minors;
• Inter-American Convention on support obligations; and,
• Inter-American Convention on Extraterritorial Validity of Foreign Judgments and Awards.

On November 19, 2021, the Secretary General of the Organization received a letter dated November 18, 2021 from the Republic of Nicaragua in which that country expresses its decision to denounce the Charter of the Organization of American States in the terms set forth in the said letter.

On October 29, 2021, Ukraine deposited the instrument of accession of the Inter-American Convention on Support Obligations.

On September 27, 2021, Uruguay informed the depository on the designation of the Autoridad Central de Cooperación Jurídica Internacional as the central authority for the following Conventions:

• Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory;
• Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory;
• Inter-American Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad;
• Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Taking of Evidence Abroad;
• Inter-American Convention on Proof of and Information of Foreign Law;
• Inter-American Convention on Execution of Preventive Measures;
• Inter-American Convention on International Traffic in Minors;
• Inter-American Convention on Maintenance Obligations;
• Inter-American Convention on International Return of Children;
• Inter-American Convention Against Corruption;
• Inter-American Convention for the Serving of Criminal Sentences Abroad;
• Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

On September 22, 2021, Mexico submitted to the depository information on the designation of the central authority for both, the Inter-American Convention Against Racism, Racial Discrimination and Related Forms of Intolerance and the Inter-American Convention Against all Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance.

On September 9, 2021, Panama submitted to the depository up-to-date information on the central authority for the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption.

On August 27, 2021, the Republic of Suriname to the OAS informed the depository on the central authority with contact information regarding the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

On August 5 , 2021, Mexico informed the depository on the designation of the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on the International Return of Children.

On August 5 , 2021, Mexico informed the depository on the designation of the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Support Obligations.

On August 5 , 2021, Mexico informed the depository on the designation of the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores – Dirección General de Asuntos Jurídicos as the central authority for the following Conventions: the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory,  the Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory, the Inter-American Convention on Proof of and Information on Foreign Law, the Inter-American Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad and the Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad .

On August 4 , 2021, Peru informed the depository on the designation of the Corte Suprema de Justicia de la República del Perú as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Proof of and Information on Foreign Law.

On August 4 , 2021, Peru informed the depository on the designation of the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la República del Perú as the central authority for the following Conventions: the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory, the Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory, the Inter-American Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad, the Inter-American Convention on Support Obligations and the Inter-American convention on Execution of Preventive Measures.

On July 26, 2021, El Salvador informed the depository on the designation of the Dirección de Asuntos Internacionales as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption.

On July 26, 2021, El Salvador informed the depository on the designation of the Dirección de Asuntos Internacionales as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

On June 23 2021, Paraguay informed the depository on the designation of Dirección de Asuntos Legales del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores as the central authority regarding the following inter-American instruments deposited with the General Secretariat of the OAS:

• Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory;
• Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory;
• Inter-American Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad;
• Inter-American Convention on Execution of Preventive Measures;
• Inter-American Convention on Proof of and Information of Foreign Law;
• Inter-American Convention on International Return of Children.

On June 11, 2021, the General Secretariat received a Verbal Note on actions taken in accordance with article X of the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption from the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the OAS, Note No. 118.

On May 28, 2021, Brazil deposited the instrument of ratification of the Inter-American Convention Against Racism, Racial Discrimination and Related Forms of Intolerance

On May 18, 2021, Ukraine deposited the instrument of accession of the Inter-American Convention on Proof of and Information on Foreign Law.

On March 29, 2021, Paraguay submitted to the depository up-to-date information on the central authority for the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption

On March 1, 2021, Peru deposited the instrument of accession of the “Inter-American Convention on Protecting the Human Rights of Older Persons” of June 15, 2015, through a note addressed to the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (Note No. 7-5-M/029).

On February 26, 2021, Ukraine deposited the instrument of accession of the Protocol related to the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

On February 26, 2021, Ukraine deposited the instrument of accession of the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters at the OAS headquarters, in Washington, D.C. United States. The instrument contains a declaration with the contact information for the central authority on the cited Convention.

On February 23, 2021, the Republic of Suriname to the OAS informed the depository on the designation of the central authority with contact information regarding the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

On February 3, 2021, the Plurinational State of Bolivia informed the depository on the designation of the central authority with contact information regarding the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory, the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and the Inter-American Convention on the International Return of Children.

On January 21, 2021, the United States of America provided the depository with updated contact information for the United States Central Authority with additional practical guidance regarding the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory and the Additional Protocol to the Inter-American Convention on Letters Rogatory.

On January 6, 2021, El Salvador informed the depository on the designation of the Unidad de Asuntos Legales Internacionales de la Fiscalía General de la República as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption.

On January 6, 2021, El Salvador informed the depository on the designation of the Unidad de Asuntos Legales Internacionales de la Fiscalía General de la República as the central authority for the Inter-American Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.
