The following page describes actions taken during 2005 regarding multilateral treaties.
On December 22, 2005, El Salvador
appointed the Instituto Salvadoreño para el
Desarrollo Integral de la Niñez y la
Adolescencia (ISNA) as its cemtral authority
according to article 5 of the Inter-American
Convention on International Traffic in Minors.
On December 22, 2005, El Salvador
deposited its instrument of accession
to the Inter-American Convention on
International Traffic in Minors with
reservation.
On December 21, 2005, Perú
deposited its instrument of accession to the
Inter-American Convention on Support
Obligations.
On December 16, 2005, Argentina
deposited its instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention against Terrorism.
On December 14, 2005, Jamaica
signed and deposited the instrument of
ratification to the Inter-American Convention on
the prevention, punishment and eradication of
violence against women "Convention of Belem do
Para".
On December 2, 2005, Trinidad and Tobago
deposited its instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention against Terrorism.
On November 18, 2005, Nicaragua
deposited its instrument of accession to the
Inter-American Convention on International
Traffic in Minors.
On November 15, 2005, the United States
deposited its instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention against Terrorism
subject to an understanding.
On November 15, 2005, the United States,
pursuant to article 4,1 of the Inter-American
Convention against Terrorism, designated the
Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN),
United States Department of Treasury, as its
financial intelligence unit.
On September 15, 2005, Jamaica
informed the depository of the designation of
the Minister responsible for Justice, the
Director of Public Prosecutions for mutual legal
assistance,and the Minister of Justice and the
Director of Public Prosecutions for mutual
technical cooperation, as the central
authorities as required by article XVIII of the
Inter-American Convention against Corruption.
On October 25, 2005, Brazil
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention against Terrorism.
On August 16, 2005, Canada
appointed central authorities regarding the
Inter-American Convention against Corruption.
On July 15, 2005, Belize
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal
Sentences Abroad.
On July 11, 2005, Honduras
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on the Forced
Disappearance of Persons.
On June 14, 2005, the United States
designated the Office of International Affairs
of the Criminal Division of the United States
Department of Justice as its central authority
for purposes of mutual legal assistance pursuant
to article XVIII of the Inter-American
Convention against Corruption.
On June 7, 2005, Nicaragua
appointed the Consejo Nacional de Atención y
Protección Integral a la Niñez y la Adolescencia
(CONAPINA) as the central authority responsible
for the compliance of the oblgations established
in the Inter-American Convention on the
International Return of Children.
On June 1, 2005, United States
designated the Permanent Representative of the
United States to the OAS to serve as the central
authority for the purposes of channeling
requests for mutual technical cooperation in
accordance with the provisions of articles
XIV(2) and XVIII of the Inter-American
Convention against Corruption.
On May 31, 2005, Antigua and Barbuda
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on the International
Return of Children.
On May 31, 2005, Antigua and Barbuda
designated the office of the Attorney
General as the central authority under the
Inter-American Convention on the International
Return of Children.
On May 26, 2005, Panama
appointed the Dirección Institucional en Asuntos
de Seguridad Pública del Ministerio de Gobierno
y Justicia as point of contact for the purposes
related to the Inter-American Convention against
the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in
Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other
Related Materials.
On May 10, 2005, Belize signed
the Inter-American Convention on Serving
Criminal Sentences Abroad.
On April 27, 2005, Venezuela
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on Transparency in
Conventional Weapons Acquisitions.
On April 15, 2005, Paraguay
signed the Convention on the Protection of the
Archeological, Historical, and Artistic Heritage
of the American Nations (Convention of San
Salvador).
On April 12, 2005, Colombia
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on the Forced
Disappearance of Persons.
On March 16, 2005, the Republic of Korea
signed and deposited the instrument of
acceptance to the Agreement Establishing the
Inter-American Development Bank.
On March 11, 2005, El Salvador
appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs as the
central authority responsible for the delivery
and reception of requests of assistance,
according to article 3 of the Inter-American
Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal
Matters.
On March 2, 2005, Peru
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention on the International
Return of Children.
On March 1, 2005, Ecuador
appointed the Director of the Departamento de
Control de Armas del Comando Conjunto de las
Fuerzas Armadas as the national authority in
charge of the bestowal of arms authorizations or
licenses in regards to the Inter-American
Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing of
and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunitions,
Explosives, and Other Related Materials.
On January 13, 2005, Bolivia
appointed the Viceministro de la Juventud, Niñez
y Tercera Edad as central authority for the
Inter-American Convention on the International
Return of Children.
On January 13, 2005, Ecuador
appointed the Consejo Nacional de la Niñez y la
Adolescencia as central authority for the
Inter-American Convention on Support
Obligations, the Inter-American Convention on
International Traffic in Minors and the
Inter-American Convention on the International
Return of Children.
On January 6, 2005, Paraguay
deposited the instrument of ratification to the
Inter-American Convention against Terrorism.
On January 5, 2005, Antigua and Barbuda
deposited the instrument of
ratification to the Inter-American Convention on
Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.
