December 14, the OAS received 32 students form Kenwood High School.

the group and provided an OAS Overview.

December 8, the OAS received 15 representatives and students from the
National Defense University (NDU). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of
International Affairs, escorted the group around the OAS Historical Main
Building. Irene Klinger, Director, Department of International Affairs,
welcomed the group and provided an OAS Overview.
On
December 6, the OAS received 30 students from Park View High School.
Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International Affairs, escorted the
students around the OAS Historical Main Building. Nelly Robinson, MOAS
Program Coordinator, Department of International Affairs, gave a
presentation on the Model of the General Assembly. The program concluded
with a dynamic introduction of Esperanza Pombo and Anna Mason, Interpreters
from the Department of Conference and Meetings Management on Interpretation
and Translations.
On
November 15, the OAS received 12 students from the Mercy High School
(Model OAS Club). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS building. The
group also visited the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) to appreciate two
Chilean exhibitions: Traveling Light and Common Place.
On
November 10, as part of the Embassy Visit Series, the OAS received 30
Boy Scouts of America (Troop 61). The Boy Scouts toured the Historical OAS
Main Building and learned about the OAS Mission. Betty Arevalo, Specialist,
Department of International Affairs welcomed and escorted the group.
On
November 1, the OAS received 40 students from Universidad del Valle de
Mexico (UVM). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS Building. Karla
Tatiana Ornelas Loera, Second Secretary, Permanent Representative of Mexico
to the OAS spoke on the role of Mexico in the OAS; followed by a briefing by
Jorge Sanin, Head, Relations Permanent Observers and Civil Society,
Department of International Affairs.
On
November 1, the OAS received 36 professionals from AMCHAM Barranquilla (Cámara
de Comercio Colombo Americana) and Honduras. Betty Arevalo, Specialist,
Department of International Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the
Historical OAS building; followed by an OAS Overview provided by Amb.
Alfonso Quiñónez, Secretary, Secretariat External Relations (SER).
On
October 31, the OAS received 17 Afro-descendants from Global Rights.

October 31, the OAS received 20 Mexican students from the Governors
Program of The Washington Center. Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of
International Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS
building. Then, Sherry Stephenson, Head, Institutional Relations, Department
of International Affairs, gave them an overview about the organization.
On
October 27, the OAS received 19 ungraduated students from the American
University. Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International Affairs,
escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS building. Ambassador
Albert Ramdin, Assistant Secretary General, Organization of American States
welcomed them and gave them an overview of the organization.
On
October 21, the OAS received 30 ungraduated Penn’s Latino students from
the University of Pennsylvania (La Casa Latina: The Center for Hispanic
Excellence). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International Affairs,
escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS building. Sherry
Stephenson, Head Institutional Relations, Department of International
Affairs, welcomed them and gave them an overview of the organization.
On
October 11, the OAS received 30 Latin America Cadets from the Air Force.

them on a tour through the Historical OAS building. Jorge Sanin, Head, with
Permanent Observers and Civil Society, Department of International Affairs,
welcomed to the group and provided and OAS overview.
On
October 5, the OAS received 40 students from the Harrisonburg High
School. Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International Affairs,
escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS Main Building.
On
September 30, the OAS received 28 high school students from Partners of
the Americas from Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Betty Arevalo, Specialist,
Department of International Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the
historical OAS building. Followed by an overview of the Organization
provided by Pablo Zúñiga, Deputy Director, Department for Effective Public
Management of the Secretariat for Political Affairs.
On
September 27, the OAS received 40 military officers from CIM (Curso de
Información Militar). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the historical OAS building.
On
September 19, OAS received 11 university students from American
University, Washington College of Law. Betty Arevalo Specialist, Department
of International Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS
building. Sherry Stephenson, Head Institutional Relations, Department of
International Affairs, gave them an overview of the organization.
On
September 16, the OAS received 19 students from the Washington Semester
Program from American University. Betty Arevalo Specialist, Department of
International Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS
building.
On
September 15, the OAS welcomed 62 students and 22 advisors from the
Inter-American Defense College who visited the organization for a tour in
the Historical Building and a full day of briefings. Amb. Alfonso Quiñonez,
Secretary, Secretariat for External Relations, opened the session with an
overview of the region followed by an overview of the Organizations provided
by Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of International Affairs. The
visit continued with the participation of Specialists from different areas
of the OAS who introduced the four pillars of the OAS (Democracy, Human
Rights, Multidimensional Security and Integral Development). The visit
concluded with a celebration of the independences of Honduras, El Salvador
and Nicaragua.
On Friday September 16th the group received a full day of briefings on
multidimensional security at the Fort Leslie McNair facilities.
On
September 14, the OAS received 33 Chilean students from the Thomas
Jefferson School. Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS building. Ms.
Carla Serazzi, Alternate Representative, Permanent Mission of Chile to the
OAS gave an overview of the organization to the group. To conclude with the
session, Luis Consuegra, Specialist of the MOAS program provided an
introduction of the Model of the OAS General Assembly.
On
September 14, 78 OAS Interns enjoyed a Tour of the Historical OAS Main
Building headed by Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs. Irene Klinger, Director, Department of International Affairs,
welcomed the group and provided an OAS Overview to the group.
On
September 9, the OAS received 14 Diplomats from the Foreign Service
Institute (FSI). Betty Arevalo, Specialist, Department of International
Affairs, escorted them on a tour through the Historical OAS Main Building;
followed by an overview of the Organization given by Irene Klinger,
Director, Department of International Affairs. The visit concluded with a
specialized briefing on Human Rights provided by Elizabeth Abi-Mershed,
Assistant Executive Secretary, Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
