The topics for discussion on this portal have already been analyzed by multiple actors. In this repository, the GS / OAS brings together some of them, as one more contribution to the discussion. This repository has two sections: In the Policy section, we will integrate information on policies relevant to the issues under discussion that are being implemented by Member States, Observer States and other States of the world. In Studies we will include analyzes, reports and reports published by academic institutions, think tanks, international and multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations and private entities, all of them of recognized prestige, which are relevant to the conversation. The OAS will publish these articles and reports in their original language.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, and the related school closures, we have seen a rise in violence and hate online – and this includes bullying. Now, as schools begin to re-open, children are expressing their fears about going back to school,” said Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that schools are safe environments for all children. We need to think and act collectively to stop violence at school and in our societies at large.”

With 1.5 billion children globally out of school due to COVID-19, many parents with access to technology and internet are increasingly turning to online education technology, smart toys, and video games to keep their kids learning at home. Kids are using Zoom for classes and video calls, YouTube for education and leisure, online EdTech to learn, and videogames for entertainment. Many parents are turning to online education technology, but is it safe?

La Comisión Interamericana de Telecomunicaciones (CITEL) elaboró un banco de datos que recopila las acciones adelantadas por Estados Miembros de la OEA y el sector productivo en tecnologías de la información y comunicaciones – TICs- en respuesta a la COVID19. Dentro de esta iniciativa, se estableció una serie de recomendaciones, agrupadas en los temas más relevantes.  Adicionalmente, la CITEL ha realizado mesas redondas que han permitido conocer más a fondo las perspectivas de todos los actores, detallar el alcance de algunas de estas experiencias y poder afrontar acciones de la mejor manera. Las acciones se han recopilado y clasificado con base en las siguientes recomendaciones.

OAS and Honduras Launch Initiative for Entrepreneurs, MSMEs and the Social Sector to Access Electronic Commerce

The initiative allows MSMEs to access electronic commerce easily and free of charge. The "OAS Plan for MSME Digitalization" is available to all micro and small companies in the country, as well as to any entrepreneur, regardless of whether or not they are formalized. Through digitization and foray into electronic commerce, it is intended that non-formalized companies become professionalized and formalized.

With a more than 2000% increase in the number of Internet users between the years 2000 and 2018, this access has brought numerous opportunities for the region. However, this growth has also created new cyber threats, requiring the development of public policies to protect users and ensure a secure and open Internet for all.
