The Third Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA III) will take place on November 17-18, 2011 in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.  The host country has suggested that this process be strengthened by focusing on one of the pillars of the
Commitment to Public Security in the Americas, namely police management.  This proposal was supported by member states during the Meeting of Experts in Preparation for MISPA III held in Santiago, Chile on November 2010.

Santiago, Chile November 18-19, 2010
The governmental experts met in preparation for MISPA III with the objective to define the agenda of the next ministerial meeting and consolidate the ministerial process.

Meeting of Latin American Civil Society Organizations and Academic Sectors

The OAS General Secretariat, the Center for Development Studies (CED-Chile) and FLACSO-Ecuador, with the support of the Open Society Institute, are organizing the fifth meeting of civil society organizations and academic sector from Latin America, in preparation for MISPA III, aiming to strengthen citizen and community participation in the area of public security, particularly with regards to police management.  The recommendations which will come out of this meeting will serve as inputs for MISPA III.  

 
The meeting will be held in Quito, Ecuador this August 16 - 18, 2011.
Meeting of Caribbean Experts and Academics

May 19-20, 2010 -  Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The OAS General Secretariat, in cooperation with FLACSO-Chile and with the support of the Open Society Institute, organized the second meeting of Caribbean experts and academics, aiming to consolidate the MISPA process, to analyze the advances made since the adoption of the MISPA documents and to evaluate the public security challenges from the specific Caribbean perspective
.
