Technical Cooperation
The main objective of the Electoral Technical Cooperation Section is to implement projects and activities that contribute to the modernization and improvement of the quality of services provided by electoral bodies.

According to article 23 of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, member states may request the advice or assistance of the OAS to strengthen and develop their electoral institutions and processes.

Some areas of work include: Registration/Electoral Roll, Electoral Computing, Electoral Statistic, Legislative Reform, Electoral Organization and Logistics, Strengthening of Organizational Structure, Electoral Administration, Promotion of Citizen Participation, Horizontal Cooperation, Political Financing, Gender Equity, Voting Abroad, Electoral Mapping, Electoral Security, Management and Quality Certification in Electoral Processes and Information Security Management.

The OAS, through the Department of Electoral Cooperation and Observation and upon the request of Member States, provides technical cooperation to the Electoral Bodies of the region. Applications are evaluated to verify the feasibility of implementing a project that meets the needs of the requesting institution.

DECO has implemented technical cooperation projects in several countries and subjects. These include those related to electoral registration and electoral technology.
