VI Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA)

The Sixth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA-VI) will be held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, from October 10-11, 2017.

Convened by the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States through CP/RES. 1075 (2103/17), this forum aspires to renew the ministerial dialogue on “Public Security Management”, one of the five MISPA pillars established through the Commitment to Public Security in the Americas which was approved by the Member States during the First MISPA in 2008.

Given that citizen insecurity is a priority issue in our region and taking into account the framework of transparency and accountability to citizens, effective, coordinated, and efficient public security management is a major challenge for the countries of the Americas. That is why MISPA-VI seeks to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences in public security management through the promotion of long-term, comprehensive state policies under which human rights are also fully observed.
