Sustainable Energy Capacity Building Initiative

Rational End-Use Programme Design: Energy Standards and Labels + Financial and Market Mechanisms

Date: December 15-17, 2015.

Venue: Belmopan, Belize

Objectives:

  • Finalize plans for a voluntary ratcheting the energy standard labelling (ESL) scheme to be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities (MESPU) and public utility BEL with a complementary financial and market mechanisms to drive widespread adoption;
  • Develop an ESL scheme to be jointly implemented by the BoS and MESTPU setting minimum thresholds for lighting, cooling, refrigeration, fans and motors;
  • Training local stakeholders on Minimum Energy Performance Standards and the new model for the Energy Services Network.
