The lesson plan states age range of students 12 -14 years which is middle school. I read the lesson plan and note the following.

The objectives specifically identifies actions students will be able to do. The first and second objectives indicates the ability to measure five objects to the nearest cm accurately, and five arm spans to the nearest cm. Yet the teaching practice speaks generally to variety of measurement attribrutes (length has ft and inches as well as cm and meters. If the objective to be achieve is measurement in length, specifically cm, then I feel the focus of the lesson should incorporate metric length measurements of cm and mm. The following two objectives speaks to identifying measurement of arm span from tables, above average and below average. The teaching practice is very general and does not specify the group activity to be performed but can ascertain that group work would be related to the height and arm span measurement of students using ruler or measuring tape, or unconventional forms of measurement. Feel the lesson needs to provide more specific direction as to activities processes and sequence of events.

What kind of measuring activity will bring about the respond to the topical question- Does my arm length predict my height?

What type of instruments will the students be manipulating?

I am interested in how the students will come to the conclusion that their arm length can or cannot predict their heights.

Interesting topic, but needs to be more specific, its to general.

I like this topic. The use of smart phones should be very effective as most teenagers have smart devices and are on it most time. Therefore using something that the students love in an educational way should be very encouraging and attractive to the kids. The lesson seems to be a very practical one which will engage students throughout the duration of the lesson in a fun and exciting way.
