The press accreditation period for the OAS General Assembly in Lima closes Friday May 14

May 14 is the last day of the accreditation period for print and TV journalists, cameramen and women and other press professionals who wish to cover the 40th Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) from June 6 to 8 in Lima, Peru. The period of press accreditation opened April 16.

The General Assembly is the topmost political institution within the OAS and its decisions guide the activities and priorities of the hemispheric organization for the year ahead. Its mandates cover a wide range of issues, including the promotion of democratic governance, the strengthening of human rights, hemispheric security and others of mutual concern. IMPORTANT: To cover the OAS General Assembly, Peruvian authorities require all journalists to obtain from Peruvian Consulates or Consulate offices abroad: a) a journalist visa, and b) a request for the tax-free temporary introduction of equipment into the country, in cases where it applies. Only when this process has been completed may members of the media conduct their activities in Peru during the General Assembly.
