"Towards the Reconstruction and Rebuilding of Tourism Post COVID-19," Central Theme of the XXV Meeting of High Authorities of the Sector

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of Paraguay will organize, TOMORROW October 6, in virtual format the XXV Inter-American Congress of Ministers and High-Level Authorities of Tourism that will focus on the theme: "Towards the Reconstruction and Rebuilding of Tourism Post COVID-19."

At the meeting, ministers and other authorities will propose hemispheric actions and consensus to mitigate the negative effects of COVID-19 on tourism, build resilience in the tourism sector and restore confidence among travelers to achieve a robust and sustained recovery of the sector.

The ministerial meeting will be opened by:

• The President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez,
• The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, and
• The Minister of the National Tourism Secretariat of Paraguay, Sofía Montiel de Afara.

The agenda of the Congress includes debates on best practices in climate change and sustainable development for tourism, standardization of biosanitary protocols for travel and tourism in the Americas, recovery of the cruise and airline industries, community and indigenous tourism, among other topics. The event will also include the participation of representatives of international organizations, the private sector, academia and civil society.
