OAS Secretary General Expresses His Condolences for the Death of Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior

  November 11, 2011

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Mexico, and to the family of the country’s Secretary of the Interior, José Francisco Blake Mora, for the “sudden and tragic death” of the high-level public official.

In a letter addressed to the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón, the Head of the hemispheric Organization, “with deep consternation,” offered his “heartfelt expression of sorrow and solidarity with your person, your Government, and the Mexican people” for the death of Secretary Blake Mora. The deceased minister, he said, will be “remembered for his vocation of tireless public service and his trajectory at the service of his country.”

“I reiterate to you my condolences and request that you extend them in a special way to the family of Secretary Blake Mora,” he concluded.
