OAS Secretary General Calls for Acceptance of Ruling by Guatemala’s Constitutional Court

Following today’s ruling by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Guatemala, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, said he hoped “that all the parties involved will accept the final resolution by the competent institutions on the issue. The OAS Electoral Mission will continue its work and will install itself in Guatemala towards the end of the month of August.”
Secretary General Insulza expressed hope that the civic behavior that has prevailed thus far will remain fully present under the same circumstances, thus allowing the people of Guatemala to democratically elect its new authorities.
