OAS Launches a Second Round of Technical Assistance Missions in Education for Democratic Citizenship
August 3, 2011
The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Office of Education and Culture, is inviting public institutions, private non-profit entities, and civil society organizations to participate in the second call for proposals for the Horizontal Cooperation Fund for Technical Assistance Missions of the Inter-American Program on Education for Democratic Values and Practices, beginning tomorrow, August 5th, 2011.
The Technical Assistance Missions provide an opportunity for institutions that implement good practices in the field of education for democratic citizenship to share them with institutions in other countries. This initiative, made possible through the support of the Permanent Mission of the United States to the OAS, promotes knowledge transfer, horizontal cooperation and regional integration.
Between 2009 and 2010, nine cooperation proposals were financed for the exchange of experiences in education for democratic citizenship, including 21 institutions from twelve countries. The participating institutions reported that their institutional capacity to develop or expand programs for education of a democratic citizenship was strengthened by the networks built during the cooperation missions.
All proposals must be sent via e-mail to Romina Kasman, Coordinator of the Inter-American Program on Education for Democratic Values and Practices at [email protected]. It is expected that the technical assistance missions will be implemented between November 2011 and April 2012.
