OAS Secretary General Condemns Attacks in Norway and Sends His Condolences

  July 22, 2011

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, expressed his “most absolute condemnation for the execrable attacks today in Oslo,” in which at least 17 people were killed.

“These crimes unfortunately remind us once again that nobody is safe from being a victim of terrorism, and that the international community must reaffirm the need to work in close collaboration to fight it,” the head of the hemispheric Organization said.

Secretary General Insulza said he hoped that “the authors of these odious crimes are identified, taken to justice and receive the punishment they deserve.”

The head of the OAS expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims of the attacks and to the people and Government of Norway.
