OAS and International Road Transport Union Advance Joint Cooperation

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) today signed a joint work plan following up on a Cooperation Agreement signed January 31st of this year. The work plan establishes concrete activities the two organizations will engage in during the next two years, starting with a joint study on international road transport in Mexico.

The document includes the execution of projects and activities in the areas of road transport, market access, supply-chain management of goods and services, and the insertion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in global trade, in keeping with OAS initiatives to promote productivity and competitiveness in the region.

The plan was signed at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC by the OAS Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Ambassador Mauricio Cortes Costa, and the IRU Secretary General, Martin Marmy.
