OAS and Panama Sign Letter of Understanding for the Seventh Summit of the Americas

José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), and Luis Miguel Hincapié, Panama’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, today signed a Letter of Understanding for the holding of the Seventh Summit of the Americas, which is to take place in that Central American country in April 2015.

At the signing ceremony, which was held during the OAS’s 46th Special General Assembly in Guatemala City, Secretary General Insulza praised the progress with the preparatory work already made by the Government of Panama in preparation for the hemispheric Summit.

In turn, Vice Minister Hincapié thanked the OAS, in the person of the Secretary General, for its support in organizing the Summit, and he promised that next year’s meeting of the hemisphere’s heads of state was “going to be a success.”

Other dignitaries, including Ambassador Alfonso Quiñónez, the OAS’s Secretary for External Relations, were also present at the signing ceremony.
