Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

OAS General Secretariat Condemns Coup Attempt in Guatemala

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) condemns the attempted coup d'état by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Guatemala.
The actions and statements of prosecutors Rafael Curruchiche and Leonor Morales constitute an alteration of the country's constitutional order, a breach of the rule of law and a violation of the human rights of the population of their country.
The attempt to annul this year's general elections constitutes the worst form of democratic breakdown and the consolidation of a political fraud against the will of the people.
We call on President Alejandro Giammattei, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Justice and Congress to defend the institutions and constitutional order of the country by taking action against the perpetrators of this attack in order to preserve democracy in Guatemala.
