OAS Joins 17 International Partners to Publish Guide on Secure by Design Software Principles
October 30, 2023
The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) recently joined 17 international partners led by the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to jointly launch the guide "Secure-by-Design: Shifting the Balance of Cybersecurity Risk: Principles and Approaches for Secure by Design Software," an initiative aimed at furthering the OAS's commitment to fostering a more secure, resilient, and open cyberspace in the Americas.
This guide advocates for software manufacturers to adopt the principles of secure by design, emphasizing the urgent need to design, develop, and deliver products that prioritize security.
By participating in this initiative, the OAS Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) leverages on the extensive experience accumulated within the OAS/CICTE CSIRTAmericas Network . and underscores its dedication to helping member states strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities and achieve a more secure digital environment for all. The OAS/CICTE CSIRTAmericas Network is an integral part of the OAS's cybersecurity initiatives, bringing together government Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) from 21 countries across the Americas. The Network fosters collaboration and the exchange of valuable information among its members, contributing significantly to enhancing cybersecurity in the region. This guide is a concrete example of the knowledge exchange that the Network promotes, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing cybersecurity challenges.
