THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES AND THE IE BUSINESS SCHOOL ANNOUNCED THE CREATION OF THE IE-OAS SCHOLARSHIPS IN INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  February 10, 2009

The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Human Development (DHD), and the IE Business School have signed a Collaboration Agreement to facilitate the participation of students from the OAS Member States in the Master in International Management, which will commence next April in its first 2009 session. The program offers three scholarships of up to 12,800 Euros (aprox. 15,000 dollars) and a scholarship of up to 24,000 Euros (aprox. 28,000 dollars) to study one year in Madrid (Spain).

Through the signed Collaboration Agreement, the OAS and the IE will facilitate students of the OAS Member States with limited economical resources to access scholarships for the training in managerial studies in one of the best business schools in the world according to various ranking polls.

Simultaneously, the Collaboration Agreement seeks to offer an opportunity for students of the OAS Member States to contribute with their experience and vision of the international reality to the rest of the students, coming from Europe, Asia and Africa, who will participate in the Master in International Management (www.master-international.ie.edu). The program will provide the young and enterprising leaders of the Member States the opportunity to receive an education of excellence and contribute to the development of their country.

“In the environment in which the global economy is living in 2009, the formation of executives and directors is vital. Not only in “hard” subjects like finance or management, but also in areas such as leadership and responsibility in the business field; aspects which have become much more necessary than before to bring back confidence to the markets. The compromise with the region as well as with the training of the leaders is one of the commitments of the IE Business School,” explained Gonzalo Garland, IE Director of External Relations.

The scholarships (OAS Scholarships for International Management) are directed to students of the OAS member states that would also want to establish contacts with professionals in Europe, who will allow them to advance in the professional and business development in their countries of origin. The deadline to apply is March 2nd, 2009, and the publication of the official results will be March 3rd. The main criteria in the selection process will be previous, academic and/or professional experience in international and multicultural surroundings. Further details about the program and the rules of the competition are available in the web pages: www.educoas.org or www.ie.edu, or sending and email to [email protected] and [email protected].

The IE-OAS scholarship program is an initiative that is part of the OAS’ commitment to attend the demands of the Member States, in which education is recognized as one of the main themes of action, being this the key for the strengthening of the democratic institutions, the promotion of development, human potential, equality and the comprehension between communities; which influences positively in the economical growth and the eradication of poverty.

IE is an international institution, dedicated to training the business elite with a global approach, enterprising character and humanitarian spirit formed by the IE Business School, IE University and IE Law School.
