Electoral experts from the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) will visit Honduras from March 25 to 29 to provide technical advice on the bills being discussed in the National Congress on electoral reforms.
During the visit, the experts will meet with the President of the Congress, Mauricio Oliva, with the members of the commissions working on the issue, and with other political and social actors.
The visit continues the support that the OAS General Secretariat provided to the National Congress at the end of last year, a stage that culminated in December with the delivery of an electoral reform proposal.
Following the approval in January of this year of the constitutional reform created by the National Electoral Council and the Electoral Court of Justice, the OAS General Secretariat trusts that Honduras can move forward with secondary reforms that allow fairer, more free, and more transparent electoral processes.
