OAS WILLING TO VERIFY EMMANUEL’S DNA TEST RESULTS

  January 4, 2008

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, speaking from Santiago, Chile, said that “if called upon, the OAS would make itself available to help form an international medical team to carry out the necessary DNA tests” to determine the identity of Emmanuel, Clara Rojas’ son, who was supposed to be part of the hostage release by the Revolutionary Forces of Colombia (FARC) last week.

The Secretary General recalled that a similar task was entrusted to the OAS when the bodies of the eleven congressmen murdered in Colombia were delivered last year. These tasks, said Insulza, are carried out within the context of the OAS’ permanent commitment to the peace process in Colombia.
