OAS SECRETARY GENERAL EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH FLOOD VICTIMS IN BRAZIL

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today sent a letter to the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, expressing solidarity with the victims of floods in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Following is the full text of the letter:

Your Excellency Mr. President:

I direct myself to Your Excellency to relate to you, your country’s government and the Brazilian people our heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the victims of recent floods in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

In the name of the Organization of American States and my own, please receive our deepest sympathies and share them with the Brazilian people. Naturally, the Organization is available for collaboration on any request your government may make of us.

I take this opportunity to reiterate to Your Excellency the assurances of my highest and most distinguished consideration.
