OAS Meeting in Brasilia to Address the Fight against Corruption

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a high-level meeting this Thursday and Friday, December 9 and 10, 2010, in Brasilia, Brazil, on the implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, an event that will address the progress by States in the fight against corruption, the monitoring of the implementation of said Convention, and cooperation with other international follow-up organizations and mechanisms.
The Third Meeting of the Conference of the States Parties to the Mechanism for the Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) will feature the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva; the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza; and the Minister of State, Office of the Comptroller General of Brazil, Jorge Hage Sobrinho.
Only the opening and closing ceremonies will be open to the press. The opening ceremony is Thursday, December 9, at 11:00 local time (13:00 GMT), and the closing ceremony is on Friday, December 10, at 13:00 local time (15:00 GMT). The entire meeting will be held in the Hotel Tryp Convention Brasil 21, located at Setor Hoteleiro Sul, Quadra 6 – Conj. A – Bl. D – Asa Sul -, 70.316-000, in Brasilia, Brazil.
There is no process of accreditation required to access the opening and closing ceremonies.
