CICAD Meeting to Address Drug Policies in the Hemisphere

The Forty-Eighth Session of the Inter-American Commission for Drug Abuse Control (CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will be held Monday, December 6, to Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Organization headquarters in Washington, DC. Among the issues to be addressed are drug policies and security strategies in the Caribbean; integrated actions to face the crack/cocaine problem; and challenges for the control of illicit drug trafficking by air.

OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza will address the session on Wednesday at 9:00 EST (14:00 GMT). The inaugural session is Monday at 9:00 EST (14:00 GMT). Welcome remarks will be given by Albert R. Ramdin, OAS Assistant Secretary General, and David T. Johnson, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

The event will be held in the Rubén Darío Room of the OAS General Services Building (1889 F St. NW, Washington, DC).
