OAS to Host Roundtable on Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law in the Americas

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host, on Tuesday, December 10, a Policy Roundtable on the issue of “Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law in the Americas.”

The event will feature the participation of the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, who will make a presentation on the subject. The welcoming and closing remarks will be delivered by Emilio Álvarez Icaza, the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).

Following the presentation by the Secretary General, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Alfonso Quiñonez, Secretary for External Relations of the OAS, which will include the participation of Dinah Shelton, IACHR Commissioner; Claudio Grossman, Dean of the Washington College of Law of American University; and Viviana Krsticevic, Director of the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL).
