OAS and UNDP Present Report on Democracy in Latin America

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will present on Tuesday, December 13, at 11:00 EST (16:00 GMT) at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, the report: "Different Roads of Democracy in Latin America. Lessons Learnt from the Political Approach to the International Economic Crisis."

The event will be chaired by the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, and the UN Secretary General and Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, UNDP, Heraldo Munoz.

The report discusses the different approaches used by countries in Latin America to meet the economic and social challenges posed by the international economic crisis and will be presented by the Secretary for Political Affairs of the OAS, Victor Rico, and the Coordinator of the Project Policy Analysis Prospective Scenarios (PAPED) of UNDP, Antonio Aranibar. The presentation will analyze trends and provide keys to understanding the situation of countries in the region for the future.
