OAS Round Table to Address Judicial Independence and Strengthening of Democracy

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold this Tuesday, October 12, 2010, its Twenty-Sixth Policy Round Table, titled, "Judicial Independence and the Strengthening of Democracy in the Americas," with the participation of authorities and experts from the hemisphere.

The event will be held this Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. (19:30 GMT) in the Hall of the Americas at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

Among the participants are Miguel Ángel Caminos, a Judge from Argentina and President of the Latin American Federation of Justices (FLAM); Augusto Ibañez Guzmán, Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of Colombia; Paulina Aguirre Suárez, President of the Association of Justices of Ecuador; Cristina Crespo, a Civil Judge from Uruguay; and Juan Carlos Apitz, Former Justice of the Administrative Court of Venezuela.

The Secretary for Legal Affairs of the OAS, Jean Michel Arrighi, will offer welcoming remarks.
