OAS, the WEF and Georgetown University to Hold Dialogue on Cyber Security

The Organization of American States (OAS), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Georgetown University will hold a "Cyber Security Dialogue" on Thursday, December 13 at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

The event will be opened by the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin and will include the participation of the General Administrator of the National Authority for Governmental Innovation of Panama, Eduardo Jaen; the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of Paraguay, Santiago Vázquez and the Senior Policy Advisor on Cyber Affairs of the United States Department of State, Michelle Markoff. Also participating are the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Society Chapter (ISOC).

The main objective of the event is to discuss the priorities of Latin America and the Caribbean on issues related to cyber security, and to promote an exchange of experiences between experts from private organizations and the representatives of the countries participating in the meeting. The OAS, through its Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) has been working on a Cyber Security Program for the region since 2003.
