OAS and Costa Rica to Hold Workshop on Mechanisms for Access to Information and Public Participation for Sustainable Development

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica will hold the first national workshop on "Mechanisms of Participation and Access to Information for Sustainable Development" on Thursday, September 12, in San José, Costa Rica, on the occasion of the International Day of Access to Information.

The aim of the workshop is to promote access to information and facilitate public participation in existing mechanisms at the national and regional levels in all sectors of society, and to discuss the requirements for access to these mechanisms, scope and procedures.

The event takes place in the framework of the Project "Strengthening Public Participation Mechanisms for Sustainable Development" by the Department of Sustainable Development of the OAS, which seeks to implement the Inter-American Strategy for Public Participation in Decision-Making for Sustainable Development (ISP) adopted by the member states of the hemispheric institution.
