The OAS to Organize Forum of Representatives of the Judiciary on Cooperation against Corruption

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, on October 3 and 4, the first Forum of Representatives of the Judiciary on Cooperation against Corruption, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 2-day forum will feature conferences and working groups as well as the exchange of best practices with participation by representatives of 13 Latin American countries, and will be divided into panels that will discuss issues related to: 

  • The persecution of acts of corruption with international reach;
  • The adjudication of acts of corruption, in the Ibero-American sphere
  • The role of federal judges in the adjudication of acts of corruption in the Republic of Argentina
  • Strengthening the fight against corruption. 

Additionally, the OAS, the Justice Studies Center of the Americas, the Iberian American Judicial Summit and the Ibero-American Network of Judicial Schools, will present the tools and mechanisms they use to foster horizontal cooperation among the judicial powers of the region.

The second day of the Forum will consist of a work session on 3 thematic areas:

  • Modernization of judicial systems;
  • Role of New Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in justice systems; and
  • Training of judicial operators.
