Official Launch of the First Report on International Migration in the Americas

The First Report on International Migration in the Americas, a joint effort by the Organization of American States (OAS), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), will be launched Monday, July 11 at 10:30 EST (14:30 GMT) in the OAS Headquarters in Washington, DC.

The report will be presented by the OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza; the Principal Administrator of the Directorate of Employment, Labour and Social Affairs Non-member Economies and

International Migration Division, OECD, Georges Lemaitre; and the Director of the ECLAC Office in Washington, DC, Inés Bustillo.

Subsequently, perspectives on the report will be offered by Mario Zamora, Minister of the Interior, the Police and Public Security, Costa Rica; Ambassador Jorge Skinner-Klee, Chair of the OAS Permanent Council and Permanent Representative of Guatemala; Ambassador Bernardino Hugo Saguier Caballero, Chair of the Special Committee on Migration Issues and Permanent Representative of Paraguay; and José María de la Torre, Assistant Permanent Observer to the OAS of Spain, sponsor country of the report. Ambassador Alfonso Quiñonez, Secretary of External Relations of the OAS, will deliver closing remarks.
