OAS Receives Inputs from Civil Society on Drug Policies in the Americas

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, at its headquarters in Washington, DC, the 10th Hemispheric Forum with Civil Society and Social Actors on the central theme of the General Assembly of the organization of this year, "Toward a Comprehensive Anti-Drug Policy in the Americas".

The Forum has as its objective the exchange of ideas and the development of proposals and recommendations on the theme of the General Assembly, which will take place between June 4 and 6 in Antigua, Guatemala. The Secretary of External Relations of the OAS, Alfonso Quiñonez, and the Chair of the Permanent Council and Permanent Representative of Panama, Ambassador Arturo Ulises Vallarino, will take part in the opening session. Representatives of more than 40 civil society organizations from the member countries will participate, together with technical experts in the field.

At the end of the Forum, participants will prepare an official document with recommendations which will be presented by the participants in a special joint session with the Committee on Inter-American Summits Management and Civil Society Participation in OAS Activities (CISC) with the Preparatory Committee of the General Assembly of La Antigua, Guatemala.
