At OAS, Scholars and Law Specialists from the Continent to Debate Inclusion and Democracy in the Last Decade

Inclusion and democracy in the Americas will be the central theme of the 30th Policy Roundtable of the Organization of American States (OAS) to be held Monday, May 23; it will feature lawyers and specialists on the issue of equality in different sectors and countries of the region.

Participants in the event, to take place in the Hall of the Americas of OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, include the President of the “Organización Coordinadora Estatal de Mujeres Indígenas,” from Vinajel, Chiapas, Mexico, Margarita Gutiérrez; the attorney and consultant on Indigenous Peoples Issues at the Counsel to American Indian Law Alliance, in Laguna Pueblo, June L. Lorenzo; and the Director for Latin America of “Inclusión y Equidad” in Chile, Alejandra Faúndez,

The 30th Roundtable is part of the activities being held to commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. It will be moderated by the Press Representative of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), Maria Isabel Rivero, and welcoming remarks will be made by the OAS Director of International Affairs, Irene Klinger.
