CENTRAL AMERICAN PRESIDENTS TO SPEAK AT OAS

  September 9, 2005

The presidents of Honduras and of the Dominican Republic will visit the Organization of American States (OAS) next week to speak to special sessions of its Permanent Council. On Monday, September 12, President Ricardo Maduro Joest of Honduras will address the representatives from the 34 member states, and President Leonel Fernández of the Dominican Republic will speak to the Council on Tuesday, September 13.

The presidents will hold a private meeting with OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza prior to addressing the Permanent Council. Both visits will be open to the press and they will be Webcast live.
