OAS Holds Round Table on “Milestones and Challenges in the Advancement of the Rights of Afro-Descendants in the Americas”

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host on Monday, February 25, the 48th OAS Policy Roundtable entitled “Milestones and Challenges in the Advancement of the Rights of Afro-Descendants in the Americas.

The event will feature opening remarks by the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza and United States Congressman Gregory Meeks, and a panel discussion moderated by the Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the OAS, Deborah Mae Lovell. Participating in the panel will be the Senior Advisor to the Race, Ethnicity, and Social Inclusion Unit in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the United States State Department, Zakiya Carr Johnson; Professor Robert Cottrol of Georgetown University; President and CEO of the Bert Corona Leadership Institute, Francisco Lopez, and the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Emilio Álvarez Icaza.

The Round Table will be broadcast live on the OAS Website.
