OAS Trains Small and Medium Businesses in Corporate Social Responsibility in Honduras

The Organization of American States (OAS) will held an interactive workshop tomorrow entitled "Integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in small and medium enterprises (SMEs)" in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to be led by officials from the Department of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism of the Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) of the OAS, and which will train more than 50 SMEs from various sectors using drills and exercises designed to show companies how to implement CSR in their business models.

The activity will be attended by the Minister of Tourism of Honduras, Nelly Jerez; the President of the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (FUNDAHRSE), Jacobo Kattán; and the President of the National Chamber of Tourism of Honduras (CANATURH), Epaminondas Marinakis.

The initiative is part of the program for the "Promotion of Social Responsibility in Small and Medium Enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean" and benefits from the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the cooperation of the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (FUNDAHRSE) and the Federation of Tourism Chambers of Central America (FEDECATUR).

In addition, the Canadian Embassy in Honduras - with the support of the SEDI - will organize on Friday, February 8th, the conference: "CSR: Developing Shared Responsibility," whose central theme is corporate social responsibility from a parliamentary perspective, its connection with sustainable development and its role in diversity and gender.
