OAS to Host Seminar on Public Policy for Indigenous Leaders

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host the seminar “Legal Situation, Public Policy, Good Practices and Affirmative Action”, on Friday, January 21, between 9:00 EST (14:00 GMT) and 17:30 EST (22:30 GMT) in the Padilha Vidal Hall inside the Organization’s General Services Building in Washington, DC (1889 F St., N.W., Washington, DC).

The event’s objective is to update indigenous leaders in the continent on public policies, good practices and affirmative action, as well as to identify challenges in the implementation of solutions in areas such as “property, land and resources,” “free determination, autonomy and self-government” and “treaties, agreements and constructive agreements.”

The seminar, coordinated by the OAS Department of International Law, is part of the framework of the “Program of Action of the OAS Department of International Law on Indigenous Peoples in the Americas.”
