The Organization of American States (OAS) and IE School of Global and Public Affairs of Spain today signed a cooperation agreement to carry out joint activities in the training of officials and students in innovation in public policy and other global issues.
The OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, said that the OAS School of Governance will play a key role in the agreement with IE School of Global and Public Affairs through its four strategic lines of action: Education, Communities, Research and Impact. "This agreement is a key step toward the advancement of these strategic lines and the strengthening of transatlantic ties between Latin America and the European continent - with Spain as the gateway to Europe," said Secretary General Almagro.
For his part, the Dean of the School of Global and Public Affairs at IE University, Manuel Muñiz, said that the signing of the memorandum will allow the students of the institute to learn from inside the operations of the Inter-American System. "This agreement is very important for us, because it will give a great opportunity to students of our Master of International Relations to come, learn about, and work at the OAS," added Muñiz.
The agreement plans the following activities:
· The participation of OAS officials in the postgraduate program taught by IE.
· The delivery of OAS workshops focused on soft leadership skills and capacities for innovation in public policies and global issues.
· The visit of IE students to Washington, DC, in the condition of fellows, for a residential week of studies and a 3-month work stay where participants are linked to the work of the OAS providing different perspectives, knowledge and experiences for the solution of different hemispheric problems.
