The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil today signed a cooperation agreement through which the two institutions seek to carry out joint projects in the area of legal cooperation, the promotion and dissemination of international law and the joint organization of conferences, seminars, events and programs.

During the signing of the agreement, which took place at the OAS headquarters in Washington DC, the Minister of the Interior of Ecuador, Mauro Toscanini Segale, expressed that the collaboration between the Ecuadorian educational entity and the OAS would be developed "around academic and research programs that mark progress in international law at the educational level."

For his part, the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, said that through this initiative it is expected that both institutions can effectively contribute "to the training of students, researchers, diplomats, judges, and academics of the region, who in turn, will make a significant contribution to the respect for international law and the Inter-American system."
