The President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, invited the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, to attend an important meeting with which his Government creates a Task Force to study in depth the issue of education in the Caribbean country and designs an Operational Plan for Refounding Education. Participants at the meeting, presided by the Haitian leader, included former United States President Bill Clinton, whose Foundation is the principal donor of the funds for this ambitious project and whose support includes the search for other funds for its financing. Also present at the meeting were other officials from international organizations. The enormous challenge of taking education, at every level, as one of the greatest challenges to be met in the context of national development marks the seal that President Martelly wishes to give his initiative.
