OAS Secretary General Receives Commemorative Plaque from AMIA

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received on his behalf and that of the Organization a commemorative plaque from the President of the “Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina” (AMIA), Guillermo Borger, on the occasion of AMIA’s participation as a guest to the Eleventh Regular Session of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), being held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

The Eleventh Regular Session of CICTE at the ministerial level is being held today, Thursday, March 17, and brings together the principal authorities on the subject of the fight against terrorism from the Member States of the Organization to analyze, adopt measures and generate cooperation with the goal of preventing, fighting and eliminating this scourge. CICTE has as its main objective to promote and develop cooperation between the Member States on this subject according to the principles of the OAS Charter, the Inter-American Convention against Terrorism, and with full respect for countries’ sovereignty, the rule of law, and international law.
