New Ambassador of Peru Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Chuquihuara, today presented to the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, the credentials that accredit him to the hemispheric institution.

Ambassador Chuquihuara recalled the changes that international relations have undergone in recent decades and the role that Peru has played in these changes. He also emphasized that his country has managed to harmonize its policies with international changes, "always managing to promote democracy, economic freedom and social cohesion." Finally, the Permanent Representative of Peru reiterated his country's commitment to the principles governing the OAS, especially in the area of democracy.

Secretary General Almagro recognized the important experience of the new Peruvian representative to the OAS and the role he will play within the framework of the Organization, in particular in the preparations for the Summit of the Americas in 2018, which will be hosted by the South American country.
