The Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Organization of American States (OAS), Jean Michel Arrighi, today received the Attorney General of Brazil, Rodrigo Janot, who made a courtesy visit to the hemispheric Organization to review the issues of joint cooperation between Brazil and the OAS on matters related to legal assistance, the exchange of experiences, Inter-American law and the strengthening of justice.

During the meeting, Secretary Arrighi presented an overview of the work of the OAS on legal cooperation, mutual assistance between countries, and its role as repository and source of information on Inter-American treaties and agreements. They also discussed areas where it would be possible to expand cooperation between the OAS and the office of the Attorney General in Brazil.

Attorney Janot’s visit to the OAS was part of a series of meetings held during his stay in Washington, DC that included visits to various international entities. His visit to OAS headquarters also included a meeting with specialists from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
