OAS Secretary General Receives Representative of German Federal Foreign Office

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with Daniel Krull, head of Latin American Division, Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean in the German Federal Foreign Office in his office at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, the German diplomat announced the decision of his government to make an additional contribution of seven million euros, through the OAS, to the fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Initiative, for the prevention and mitigation of the effects of this problem on the population of the Americas.

The Secretary General Insulza thanked Representative Krull for the contribution, as well as others that Germany does to other OAS programs, such as the Mission to Support the Peace Process (MAPP) in Colombia or the electoral observation missions deployed throughout the hemisphere.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary for External Relations of the OAS, Ambassador Alfonso Quiñonez.
