The Executive Secretary for Integral Development of the Organization of American States (OAS), Sherry Tross, and the President and CEO of Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE), Jonathan Mintz, today signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of supporting and promoting financial inclusion programming in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Specifically, the General Secretariat of the OAS and the CFE agreed to share information on relevant financial inclusion programs, both within the region and globally, as well as to work collaboratively to support countries in the region to build, grow and integrate financial empowerment programs with the existing social service infrastructure.

Through the agreement both institutions seek to work with each country to conduct an assessment and analysis of the existing programs and institutional support in the area of financial empowerment . Technical assistance by the CFE also includes the design of financial training programs, and the impact assessment on residents’ livelihood.
