OAS Secretary General Received the Permanent Observer of South Korea

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received a courtesy visit from the Permanent Observer of the Republic of South Korea, Ahn Ho-Young.

During the meeting, held at the office of the Secretary General in Washington, DC, the two discussed the economic and political developments in the Hemisphere, and the existing relationship of cooperation between the Asian country and the Organization.

South Korea has been a Permanent Observer to the OAS since June 1981 and has been an active contributor to various programs of the hemispheric institution, such as the Program for Universal Civil Identity in the Americas (PUICA) in the Caribbean, electoral missions and cyber-security.

The Secretary for External Relations of the OAS, Alfonso Quiñonez, was present at the meeting.
