OAS Secretary General Receives Director of the United States Secret Service

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received Julia A. Pierson, Director of the United States Secret Service, whom he presented with a plaque in recognition of the support of the agency she directs for the cybersecurity program of the hemispheric institution.

During the meeting, held at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, the two discussed the importance of continued hemispheric efforts to strengthen mechanisms of defense against increasingly strong and numerous cyber threats.

Present at the meeting were the Permanent Representative of the United States to the OAS, Carmen Lomellin; the Secretary for Multidimensional Security of the OAS, Adam Blackwell; and the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism, Neil Klopfenstein, among others.
