OAS Secretary General Participates in Meeting of the ECLAC Regional Coordination Mechanism

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today participated in a meeting of the Regional Coordination Mechanism of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile.

The leader of the hemispheric organization talked about the challenges that face the region in the development of its democracies, as well as its potential for achieving sustainable, equal and inclusive development.

The Secretary General is in Chile to attend the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union, in which 27 EU member countries and 33 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean will participate, and which will be held on January 26 and 27 in the Chilean capital.
