La Política Nacional de Energía (NEP) desarrolla un marco legal, institucional y económico y los mecanismos de gestión para la promoción de los servicios de energía sostenibles y económicos. Las estrategias identificadas por la NEP incluyen la explotación de los recursos energéticos propios y la reducción total dependencia de los combustibles fósiles.
El Fondo SIRF busca atraer inversiones en energías renovables, principalmente solar y eólica, vender la electricidad a la autoridad de servicios públicos de Antigua y Barbuda (APUA) y reinvertir los ingresos en la gestión ambiental.
Objetivos
Capacitar 75% del personal que participaran en las operaciones del Fondo SIRF.
Medidas de impacto
Resultado general esperado: La División de medio ambiente, la autoridad de servicios públicos de Antigua y Barbuda (APUA), la Unidad de gestión de deudas y la Unidad de energía recibirán la capacitación y serán los beneficiarios a corto plazo. Los beneficiarios a largo plazo incluyen todos los consumidores de electricidad que se beneficiarán de fuentes de energía más confiables, más asequibles y menos dañinas con el medio ambiente y los ecosistemas, lo que permitirá la restauración ambiental en Antigua y Barbuda.
Sostenibilidad del proyecto: Durante la creación del Fondo SIRF, la División de medio ambiente actuará como Secretaría interina. La División tiene un historial probado en la implementación exitosa de proyectos.
